In compagnia del Lupo
In compagnia del Lupo
For eight episodes, the Italian writer and TV host Carlo Lucarelli leads the audience through a process of rediscovery of our traditional fairy tales . What stands behind the "once upon a time"? With the accompaniment of animated drawings by the talented illustrators at TIWI Studio, Lucarelli reveals the unusual, adventurous, sometimes terrible and frightening implications hidden within these stories, the lives of their authors, the news stories that inspired them and the customs of the times in which they were born.
Carlo Lucarelli: the host
Carlo Lucarelli is an Italian crime-writer, TV presenter, and magazine editor.
Having written, among more than 20 books, the major novel Almost Blue, he has come to be known as one of the most talented writers in contemporary Italy.
For a time he has been the host of a popular Italian television programme about crime (Blu notte misteri d'Italia).
The Locations: Teatro Anatomico at the University of Padova and Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia
The series has been developed relying on two main locations, known for their historical importance and their dark mood.
Teatro Anatomico is the theatre in which Galileo Galilei used to conduct his classes and dissect human bodies to study their composition.
Entirely built in wood, the circular construction is way smaller and more delicate than it looks like.
Teatro Valli, on the other hand, is a majestic building that dominates one of the central squares of Reggio Emilia. Lucarelli explores both the lowest (the area underneath the stage) and the highest room (the luxurious storage room for the huge chandelier).
